 The universal spirit of the Sermon on the Mount
 
 As the centerpiece of Christian ethics, the Sermon on the Mount is just as famous as it is shyly avoided because of its practical incomprehensibility. With cosmopolitan cleverness or self-diminishing humility, one avoids the fulfillment of their demands, because there is a lack of example and spiritual understanding - which is only conveyed by example. Jesus not only preached the Sermon on the Mount, but also lived it. In this respect, the Beatitudes are the gospel in a nutshell. When a called person like Swami Omkarananda illuminates them, a world of truth for life unfolds from them, a truth that can be lived and that redeems the world.
